Batting first at Triangle's small ground Sowerby reached 262-7, mainly thanks to Mark Bennett whose 79 runs included 9 fours and 4 sixes. Mohammed Younas (25), Paul Bellinger (36) and Lee Barber (36) also added to the total. For the hosts Martin Silkstone bagged 3 wickets for 45 from 14 overs, really good figures for a small ground. Darren Park and Mark Uttley sharing the other 4 wickets evenly.
After the tea break Triangle came out to bat. Darren Park was caught by Craig Patrick off Patrick Lennon for 9, which brought the dangerous Tony Sykes to the crease. He hammed the ball around until being bowled by Younas for 61 (4x4s, 7x6s). Thomas Kenworthy hitting 45 with 9 fours being the fifth wicket down with 148 on the board Sowerby were confident of victory. However a 72 partnership from Mark Uttley (38) and the experienced John Moore (44) put the game back in the balance. Wickets then fell at regular intervals but Triangle were still in with a sniff, needing 12 runs off the final over bowled by Sultan Mahmood. He managed to keep them to 8 runs meaning Sowerby were victorious by 4 runs. Sultan taking 3 for 68 off 13 overs, Pat Lennon 1 for 29 off 6, Craig Patrick 3 for 56 off 9 and Younas 2 for 71 off 15 all contributing to a good win.
