Sowerby 2nds travelled to Hill Top Ground to take on Thornton and came away with 12 points.
Batting first on a hard but green wicket Mark Bennett hit 16 fours in his 79, and was ably assisted as everyone down the order chipped in with twenties and thirties. Lee barber 29, Gavin Clarke 29, Lynden Baxter jnr 33, Billy Watson 26, and Pat Lennon 25 all kept the runs ticking over and left Craig Patrick to smash a few fours and sixes in the last over for 43 not out. Sowerby's total of 288 for 7 looked a formidable total, however they remembered getting over 320 last year at the same ground and losing with a few balls to spare.
In the Thornton innings, Sowerby got 3 quick wickets to reduce the hosts to 37-3 and looked to be on the way to victory, however then came to the crease Tim Shackleton who punished them last year with an unbeaten hundred. As last year he punished Sowerby's bowlers for another hundred, however unlike the Sowerby innings nobody was able to hang around with him and keep the score ticking over. Eventually he was the last man out bowled by Lynden Jnr for 107, and the total on 219 giving Sowerby victory by 69 runs.
