The first game of the HCL 2021 season saw our 2XI travel to Shelf Northowram with Craig Potts men eager to get the season off to a flying start.

A strong start from Sowerby St Peter’s restricted Shelf to 38/4 with great opening bowling from young Harvey Potts and Lynden Baxter Snr on a tough quick outfield. Shelf Northowram were quick to bounce back with Amit Kaushik hitting a knock of 63 before falling Victim to great bowling from Dan Drake. SNHTCC finishing on 199/8 off 45 overs with Ethan Grogan taking the fielding mark.

Shelf Northowram immediately took control of the innings with 2 quick wickets leaving Sowerby 1/2 with opener Adam Clarke and Harry Clarke failing to add to the tally with dismissals down the leg side from Liam Dimbleby.

Vice captain Alex Healey got to work to set a stance for sowerby to fight back as he made his way to 50 quickly along side Mohamed younas who contributed a well earned 48 before being caught out on the boundary edge. Captain Craig Potts 28* and Alex Healey then saw St Peter’s home with a great batting performance to earn himself a 102 not out and also see St. Peter’s over the line with 10 overs to spare.

A great all round performance by the team and well earned 11 points.
