Sowerby second string visited Copley and got beaten quite easily. Due to a few players missing on a weekend trip to Blackpool and skipper Gavin Clarke still injured, Sowerby went with an inexperienced side. Led by Paul Bellenger they lost the toss and were fielding. Nathan Bizley smashed 148 and opening partner Chris Kessie 84 as Copley racked up 337-4. Bowlers disappeared to all parts of the ground, however on a more positive note young Ethan Grogan had his first overs in the second team and picked up two wickets and a fielding mark. In reply Sowerby were 148 all out, Jez Cooke with 32 and Mohammed Younas with 26 the top scorers as Copley's 6 bowlers each took a wicket or two. Next week see Mytholmroyd visit Sowerby and the Sowerby visit Ludd Foot in the second round of the Crossley Shield. With a few players back it should make the side somewhat stronger.
